About Novas Scarman's Social Enterprises

The answer is they are all run by Novas Scarman; they all positively change the lives of people, including those experiencing homelessness, health issues and isolation; and they all contribute to bringing communities together.

Our innovative social enterprise work, has helped us establish a range of businesses that provide quality services and products to the public, but also create real work and learning opportunities for people from disadvantaged groups. These opportunities are either directly in the businesses themselves, in partnership with the individuals and organisations we are working with, or utilise the profits we make from these activities to reinvest in training and work placements.

For the vast majority of people, work is what gives them income to make choices in their lives, self-esteem and a place in society in being recognised for their personal input, and for many people individual fulfilment. However a section of people from our communities find it particularly difficult to gain access to employment. They may be disadvantaged for a whole range of reasons from a recent experience of homelessness, a possible offending history, low expectations because their environment, a previous health difficultly or discrimination from their colour, faith or disability. However these people’s potential is huge, often making some of the most dedicated and focused staff because of the battles they have had to make to get there. What people need is that initial opportunity, and we aim to provide it.

We are planning to develop and expand our social businesses. If you would like to work together with us on this we would love to hear from you. Novas Scarman brings people together.
