An excellent opportunity for talented individuals from Black and Minority Ethnic groups to enter the Planning Profession.

Based in Swindon.

PATH National Ltd & The Planning Inspectorate is working in partnership with The Department for Communities and Local Government and The Royal Town Planning Institute.

PATH National Ltd is a successful skills development agency. We seek to address the under-representation and inequalities of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) groups in management and professions through innovative training projects.

Swindon Borough Council's Planning Service offers a career path and opportunity that few can match. We are leading work on design coding, planning the next phase of growth for the town and actively involved in town centre regeneration. We offer variety and a fast track to developing your career. You will work initially in Development Management and handle an important caseload of planning applications dealing with development proposals in the urban area of Swindon, the surrounding rural area and villages within the Borough. We will look to provide an opportunity to work within Forward Planning during your contract period.

Opportunity

3 years practical work experience
Day release to study toward postgraduate degree in Town and Country Planning (RTPI) at a local university
Access to in-house personal and professional development training courses
Training allowance £14,000 (net pay)

The successful candidate will have:

Interest in built environment or regeneration issues
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to manage conflicting priorities
Problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
Essential Requirements for all applicants:
Educated to degree level, (minimum 2:2)
Eligibility for home student university fee (e.g. as a national of the UK/another EU country)
Able to balance work and study
Ability to work within a diverse environment
Must be eligible to work/train in the UK for the duration of the traineeship.
