NOVAS SCARMAN APPOINTS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE

The Novas Scarman Group has appointed Maff Potts as its new Chief Executive. Maff Potts is currently Director for Homelessness Services for The Salvation Army in the UK and Ireland Territory having previously worked at Crisis and in Central Government where he managed the Places of Change programme for the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Novas Scarman Chair Andrew Barnett said:
“Maff’s appointment complements the great strides we have made in recent months - recruiting a strong new Board, clarifying our vision and strategy and stabilising our financial situation. He brings with him excellent experience from the fields in which we work and a creative approach to developing services that meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable in society. He will help bring excitement to our operations at a time of challenge for the sector and help us stand out from the crowd.”
Maff Potts will take over from Interim Chief Executive Susie Parsons in mid-October 2010. He said:
"I could not be more excited about joining Novas Scarman at this time. It is almost as if this organisation was built for Britain in 2010. How do you deliver Big Society when there's no money? You work face-to-face with people in their community and you empower them to find their own solutions. Novas Scarman does just that. We are the Big Society people and I'm thrilled to be joining the talented staff and services users in achieving it".
