Situated within the developing Cultural Quarter of Southwark’s Bankside, Contemporary Urban Centre (CUC) – London Bridge Bankside opened in April 2007.
Redeveloped from a former office block and one time head office of The Novas Scarman Group, CUC - London Bridge Bankside contains the flagship Café Arlington, three art galleries , a small cinema, conference facilities and meeting rooms.
The arts programme will bring to the attention of the wider public the issues of homelessness, discrimination and social exclusion reflecting the lives and experiences of the Novas Scraman Group’s core client base. All artworks will be for sale providing a vital exhibition and revenue potential to artists. The Novas Scarman Group will then invest 100% of its share of the profits into services to increase access to education, work and training for homeless and other excluded individuals.
CUC - London Bridge Bankside will celebrate the international nature of the issues of Urban life and will contain exhibitions of international significance to reflect this. The Gallery will concentrate particularly on the development of Outsider Art, to become the most significant venue to see such work in the UK.
TCUC – London Bridge Bankside provides one of the few accessible arts buildings in Southwark making it an ideal venue for community groups including people with disabilities and parents with young children.
