Specialist work with homeless young offenders with mental health support needs
John, aged 18, suffers with a severe mental illness and has been homeless. His Probation Officer referred him to Novas Scarman’s Wirral Offenders Scheme; all other providers refused to accept him as he has previous convictions for arson and violence.
John was offered a tenancy with an approved private landlord on the basis that he complied with all the support Novas Scarman would provide.
John is still receiving support from Novas and is due to be re-housed by the local authority.
He is showing that even those with high risk offending issues can turn their lives around when given the chance for stability and are able to address the underlying factors of their offending history.
