Can Do Health

Grants of up to £1,500 for health and wellbeing projects

The fund is aimed at groups with a health related idea to help start or develop a project that will be inclusive of the people that are intended to benefit from the funds and additional support.
Please note: We cannot accept applications that are general fundraising appeals, building projects or that are requesting money to subsidise existing statutory provision.

The fund will offer:
* Development worker support to help with your application.
* An extended period of post-award support focussed on strengthening the group and addressing routes to sustainability for the future.

In order to be eligible for funding the following applies:
* Applicants must have discussed their idea with the Can Do Health Development Worker before submitting the application.
* Groups must have an annual income of less than £25,000.
* Applications must be led by members of the community that are intended to benefit.
* Groups applying will want to utilise the Post Award Support offered.
* Groups will be expected to have, or open a bank account in the group name.
* Groups must already have, or develop a written set of rules

Next closing date is on May 2009

The fund is provided by Brighton & Hove City Teaching Primary Care Trust and this scheme has been developed to provide an innovative approach to grant funding that can also address routes to sustainability.

Health and Wellbeing means that we are looking for projects that will have a positive impact on a community or neighbourhood’s health. Positive impacts can include things like, healthier diets, exercise, improvements to the environment: stop smoking classes and providing social outlets or support for vulnerable or isolated people.
